Vanity Fair is a part of 18th century Villa Costa in Marlia, 4 miles north of Lucca. Just one block from basic food shops and one mile from Marlia's center, this used to be a rural estate of Costa family from Genova, shipping magnates operating Costa Cruise Line. You enter the the apartment through a pair of ancient solid oak doors, stepping into a vaulted-ceiling foyer. The apartment is located on the second story, by way of a completely remodeled stairway. The stairway is made of hewn stone with wrought iron and bronze railings.
| The living room has one large living area with a single sofa, dining corner, and a new Tuscany style chestnut wood kitchen with modern equipment. The view from the living room extends through a nearby pine grove and continues to the gently undulating hills of Northern Tuscany. A number of medieval hilltop villages beckon from the vicinity. The bathroom is completely furnished with modern facilities. There is a shower, a delightful small window and even a towel warmer. |
The bedroom has a 400-year-old wrought iron queen-size bed, and a view that extends over the villa's old chapel.

The apartment has been completely renovated in traditional Tuscan style. Terra-cotta, stone and wood elements, along with simple but comfortable furnishings, give Vanity Fair a warm, cozy atmosphere. A telephone and color TV are included. Maid service is available at Euro 8/hour.
Vanity Fair has a large storage closet and parking can be arranged on the property. A bus stop to Lucca's Historical Center and the railroad station are located in front of the property.
