Built in the 16th century, Villa Gregori
belonged to an aristocratic family of the Republic of Lucca. The
location is spectacular, with ample views of the valley down to
the Lucca plain, mountains of Pisa in the distance, the olive groves,
vineyards, meadows and cypress of the Lucchese countryside and small,
picturesque churches on the hilltops.
Il Tinaio is an independent stone house 80 yards
from the main villa. It has a large outdoor area with a wide view
of the surrounding countryside, and garden furniture (table and
chairs) for al fresco dining. From a large private swimming pool,
one can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley.
Il Tinaio was recently
restored by its current owners, with great taste and charm, using
only authentic materials. The ancient cotta floors, woodbeamed ceilings,
stone and iron craftworks, and old fireplaces have all been preserved.
Decorated with antiques, paintings, dried flower arrangements, and
pretty curtains, the home is comfortable and attractive.
On the ground floor of Il Tinaio is
a fully equipped Tuscan-style kitchen with modern appliances, terra
cotta tiles and wooden beams, a formal dining room, spacious well-lit
living room, one double bedroom with in-suite bath, one twin bedroom,
one bath, and an outdoor shower. Upstairs are two double bedrooms
and a bathroom. Amenities include a dishwasher, washing machine,
television. The owners are very friendly, and welcome their guests
with seasonal produce.
