About the Neighborhoods

Oltrarno
Three of the following four properties are located in the Oltrarno section of Florence. Oltrarno is situated on the south bank of the river Arno, where the Palazzo Pitti is located, just a few blocks from Il Ponte Vecchio. There are beautiful 16th and 17th century aristocratic Florentine palazzi here; however, the neighborhood has still remained relatively undeveloped. It is primarily a quiet area of artisan workshops, antique shops and local trattorias. This fascinating area is in a residential district which is not too touristy, and is perfect to wander around and discover the true character of Florence.

City Center East
The fourth property below, Borgo Allegri II is located in the City Center East neighborhood of Florence. This part of Florence, with its dominant palazzos, Borgo Allegri, Duomo Santa Croce Church, etc. is the first place most people will visit when they arrive in the city. This is also the center of the traditional artisans' quarter, with its lively an attractive sense of community. Also, there are distinctive neighborhood shops, restoration workshops, and numerous traditional restaurants.

Malaparte

Malaparte is located on Via Santo Spirito, a pedestrian street one block south of the Arno River, which runs from Ponte Santa Trinita to Ponte alla Carraia, within walking distance of all museums, shops and restaurants in the historic center.

You enter Malaparte into a spacious living/dining/kitchen area with high beamed ceilings and wood floors. The custom-designed kitchen is built in under the loft at the far end of the room. The bedroom has a double bed, and the master bath has a jacuzzi tub ensuite. There is also a second bath with a marble shower (no bathtub). The loft area can be made into a second bedroom with twin beds, closed off by a curtain which can be closed for privacy at night, or used as a studio area. Malaparte has a dishwasher, television, and a washer and dryer.

Restored by the owners for their own use, the apartment has been turned into a modern ambiance in an antique building. Malaparte is very attractive, modern in conception, young in feeling, and designed by a local architect. The property is at the top of about 45 rather steep steps.

Borgo Tegolaio

Borgo Tegolaio is located on a small street off of Piazza Santo Spirito on the second floor. This is a very central location, just a short walk to all museums, monuments and boutiques. The piazza has an open air market and several coffee bars and restaurants. This is the home of a family who have decided to live in their country house, so it is very comfortable, attractive, cozy and tastefully furnished.

You enter Borgo Tegolaio into a dining room off of which is a comfortable well-equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher. There is a spacious living room, and a bedroom with a double bed and ample closet space. The modern bathroom has a bathtub and shower. Up some stairs is an office/sitting area overlooking the living room. There is also a TV room with a single sofa bed, plus a second bedroom, with two single beds. The property is at the top of about 40 rather steep steps.

Borgo San Jacopo

Borgo San Jacopo is centrally located in the historic center of Florence, a stone's throw from the Arno River, Ponte Santa Trinita monuments, museums and famous boutiques. This fourth floor apartment belongs to a designer who restored it for his own use.

The entrance hall leads to a living room which opens onto a dining area and a custom-built kitchen with a marble sink and a view of Palazzo Pitti. The bedroom has a large bed, and the white marble bathroom has a shower (no bathtub). From the living room and kitchen, you have lovely views of Palazzo Pitti.

The loft bedroom above the master bedroom is reached from the back hall by a circular iron staircase. Because the loft has low, sloping ceilings, the double bed is a futon on the carpeted floor. Behind a screen is a W.C. and a sink. The accommodation features a dishwasher, washing machine, old TV, and a tape deck with sound system. The property is at the top of about 70 rather steep steps.

Borgo Allegri II

Borgo Allegri II is a second floor apartment accessed through a private terrace. The entrance room has bookcases and a table. The double living room has a fireplace, which faces both the living room and the dining room. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped, and a small hall has an upright piano. The bedroom has a queen sized bed, and adjoins an attractive, modern bathroom. The good-sized terrace has a table and four chairs, plus several plants. Borgo Allegri II has wonderful views of the hills, monuments and rooftops. The property has a dishwasher, washing machine, and television.

The property is at the top of about 50 steps.
