This
apartment (170 sq m) is in a wing of an antique 18th century villa in
Marlia, also the hometown of the famous Villa Reale, once owned by Napoleon's
sister Elisa. Villa Costa once belonged to the Costa family of famous
armators from Genova, who currently own the Costa
Cruise Line. Villa Costa is within easy walking distance (one block) to basic food shops,
one mile to the center of Marlia and four miles to beautiful historic town
of Lucca. Fifteen miles away is the famous Montecatini
Spa, with its mineral muds used in Princess Marcella Borghese's
skin treatments, and 20 miles away are the Versilian beaches. Also nearby is Collodi, where the book Pinocchio, a story loved by children and adults alike, was written by caretaker of a beautiful villa there.
A one-hour train ride from Lucca, or easy drive on the autostrada,
takes guests on a day trip to Florence, the superb capital of Italian
art and architecture.
